One Day!

I have always LOVED to travel. Over the years I have had a few oppurtunities to go places and see things you just can't see here. At some point, my fear of flying became to much for me...and I stopped.

My last trip was to Ensenada, Mexico in 2007. I only took this trip because it was absolutely necessary. I was Zanexed to the gills and I still freaked out. We hit an airpocket and I pretty much hyperventilated for the next 2 hours.

Of course, that was nothing compared to the time I ran down the aisle during takeoff. I was promptly escorted back to my seat with 2 bottles of scotch and a cup of ice. GO BRITISH AIRWAYS!

Or..we could talk about the time I got on a puddle jumper in Belize and realized that the runways were dirt/rock roads. Dude...

Anyway, I'm pleased to announce I am working on my phobia of flying. To keep my eye on the prize I've decided to make a short list of my "dream vacations". If money and time wasn't an issue, you might find me here:

Sailing to all of the Galapagos Islands .... How amazing would this be????

 Alaska

 A cruise through the Amazon

 Ireland

 An african safari

 A tour through Italy

Another EXTENDED stay in Spain. Preferably in the Southern region this time!

One day..I will make all of these destinations!

What do I DO in the summer??

A student asks me today (in class)...Mrs. Eds, what do you DO in the summertime with all your free time?

me: "besides teach?" ( I can never let the obvious go...)

Believe it or not, teachers work in the summer. Even if I weren't teaching summer school, I would be bound to numerous teacher workshops for continuing education hours as required by the state. These workshops are usually conveniently spaced in such a manner that it makes planning a vacation quite difficult. For some reason they want to meet up every wednesday in the middle of the day...because THAT'S convenient.

I'm not really complaining..it could be worse. It's just that people have a glorified view of teachers as having endless time off. Let me just say this...WE EARN IT. And no one would teach if they didn't have an extended period away from kids, no matter how much they love them.

Apart from my little part time teaching gig, I have been taking tons of pictures and practicing taking portraits. I had a lovely model last weekend who said I could post her picture! She's beautiful. Thanks Kalynn!

We stopped to take pictures by a fence...and while I was completely focused on getting a good shot. This guy snuck up behind me and got frisky with my neck. I think he needs some mouthwash.
